I was totally shocked when back in July my son texted me to say Chester had died. As the news rolled out to say it was suicide I was surprised, but maybe not unexpected given what he had gone through in his life. Despite all that, he was an inspiration to me, singing about stuff that mattered as if he was baring his very soul.

I found this interview where he talks about his depression and the fact that inside his head ‘is a bad neighbourhood’.

It’s not easy to tell the signs of depression, or whether someone has mental health issues. Let’s do what we can, all the same. Listen and care.

RIP Chester
