This week…

13 Oct 2017 Are you willing to go naked?

So are you ready to feel vulnerable before others? How will that feel?

16 Sept 2014 How daring are you?

So what are you afraid of? Are you prepared to overcome it or simply live in fear?

8 May 2014 How confident are you?

So you think you are competent when indeed you may be over confident…

16 Mar 2014 A new perspective…

Interesting interview. What strikes a chord with you?

16 Nov 2013 A smarter way of working…

Are you working on a treadmill or being smart?

1 Aug 2013 Empathy…

So you think you know what empathy is. Ready to expand your horizons?

24 July 2013 A Life Beyond…

This is for all of us who find ourselves in this situation with our parents.

26 April 2013 Education…

My son is coming to the end of his first year of 6th form. He is thinking about dropping one of the four subjects in order to focus on topics that he enjoys and aligns with his career aspirations. His school will encourage him to stick it out, potentially compromising the subjects he wants to do well in. Who is best to decide?

Saw this today, and maybe there is something in this. You might find it interesting as well….

Now that you have seen it, perhaps it has made you think. For a similar but different perspective, check out Ken Robinson’s videos on TED or the RSA.

Education for a new generation…

clarifies our life…

25 May 2012 A moment of choice…

The sun shone once more in Glasgow. A beautiful day it was and I was left with a choice. Take the train through to Edinburgh to listen to Sir John Whitmore tell me about the latest developments in coaching, or take a relaxing drive out to one of the beautiful places in Scotland. Sorry John, food for the heart and soul came first…

2 Apr 2012 A moment of true leadership…

It is not a matter of knowing whether you are a leader or not, you are. What is important is how you use those moments when leadership is needed. Sometimes all it takes is a smile, sometimes it takes a little bit more.

22 Mar 2012 Being vulnerable can make you stronger…
Let’s be honest with ourselves, we all feel vulnerable sometimes. It is simply part of who we are. Accepting this can be liberating and be a great source of strength.

28 Feb 2012 Happiness at work makes business sense…

It seems, after all, there is a lot of evidence to suggest that happiness at work makes a positive impact on both the people who work there and to the bottom line. Can you afford to ignore that?

31 Jan 2012 Is there a real you?
I have always been opposed to the notion that any horoscope, psychological quiz or psychometric test defines who I am. I always leave with a sense that I am more than than. Perhaps at last there is an explanation…

6 Oct 2011 The man who lived authentically – RIP Steve Jobs
Take inspiration from his own words…

28 Sept 2011 Is laughter the best medicine?
When you get some bad news, like a job rejection letter, then the day sometimes doesn’t seem as bright as it should. Reality is like that. Yet perhaps all you need is a change of perspective and do something with that input. Here’s one cool way of dealing with such letters. Enjoy!

25 July 2011 Do you need to be mad to want to be a leader?
It takes courage, self belief and a lot of passion to be a true leader, though many would argue that you also need to be a little mad to want to take on the responsibility. Yet if no-one else does, hoe are we going to change the world for the better? How are we going to improve the life of others, build a society that we can all feel proud of, and enable people to find their own rhythm and dance…

What tune are you dancing to?

06 July 2011 Want a simple way to reach your goals?

You will have heard this before, that reinforces how useful this advice is. It simply works. I dare you to try it!

30 June 2011 Are we all mad? Isn’t it just a matter of by how much?

This fascinating video has Joshua Walters posing that very question, based on his own experiences. How mad are you?

23 June 2011 So you think its great having loads of choice…
Perhaps too much can actually prevent us from making a choice at all…

Check out my blog entry on the same topic, with another great animated video from the RSA…

25 May 2011 Just back from my holidays and found this film, talking about the benefits of taking time off. Have a look and see what you think. As always with vacations / holidays / whatever you want to call it, but sure to be taking time off – no sneaky peaks at your messages, emails, etc etc that so fill our lives with ‘stuff’…

25 May 2011 Are you sure you know how to tie your laces…

18 May 2011 This week I went to the funeral of a friend. Never an easy experience, harder for the family. The grandson gave a lovely talk on remembering the good things rather than grieving for the loss.
This reminded me of a video I’d seen some time ago and I thought it was worth a second viewing. It’s about living your life…

10 May 2011 I was talking to a friend today who wants to leave the corporate world and do something fulfilling, which for him was to coach others in finding their potential.
What would fulfilment mean for you? Consider this, it may be of help…

3 May 2011 I met a new coaching client today. I love doing what I do. Perhaps this film captures a sense of how I feel about helping others…

Are you making a difference to someone today? If not, how can you?

26 April 2011 I first saw Dan Pink at TED, when he spoke about motivation. He found an interesting study that, surprisingly, suggested money is not the best motivator… The TED video can be found here http://bit.ly/geRowE I recently came across an RSA talk by Dan on the same theme, which I like better as it is a great visual representation of the same talk:

Enjoy! PS And by the way, Dan also produced a pretty cool career guidance book . It has been written in Japanese Manga style i.e. a cartoon character, giving the basics of career guidance in a new and interesting way. See what you think…The Adventures of Johnny Bunko: The Last Career Guide You’ll Ever Need
