Is there a real you?

I have always been opposed to the notion that any horoscope, psychological quiz or psychometric test defines who I am. I always leave with a sense that I am more than than. Perhaps at last there is an explanation…

Is laughter the best medicine?

When you get some bad news, like a job rejection letter, then the day sometimes doesn’t seem as bright as it should. Reality is like that. Yet perhaps all you need is a change of perspective and do something with that input.

Here’s one cool way of dealing with such letters. Enjoy!

Do you need to be mad to want to be a leader?

It takes courage, self belief and a lot of passion to be a true leader, though many would argue that you also need to be a little mad to want to take on the responsibility. Yet if no-one else does, hoe are we going to change the world for the better? How are we going to improve the life of others, build a society that we can all feel proud of, and enable people to find their own rhythm and dance…

What tune are you dancing to?

Are we all mad? Isn’t it just a matter of by how much?

This fascinating video has Joshua Walters posing that very question, based on his own experiences. How mad are you?

So you think its great having loads of choice…

Perhaps too much can actually prevent us from making a choice at all…

Check out my blog entry on the same topic, with another great animated video from the RSA…

Just back from my holidays…

and found this film, talking about the benefits of taking time off. Have a look and see what you think. As always with vacations / holidays / whatever you want to call it, but sure to be taking time off – no sneaky peaks at your messages, emails, etc etc that so fill our lives with ‘stuff’…

Are you sure you know how to tie your laces…

18 May 2011

This week I went to the funeral of a friend. Never an easy experience, harder for the family. The grandson gave a lovely talk on remembering the good things rather than grieving for the loss.

This reminded me of a video I’d seen some time ago and I thought it was worth a second viewing. It’s about living your life…

I was talking to a friend today who wants to leave the corporate world and do something fulfilling, which for him was to coach others in finding their potential.

What would fulfilment mean for you? Consider this, it may be of help…

3 May 2011

I met a new coaching client today. I love doing what I do. Perhaps this film captures a sense of how I feel about helping others…

Are you making a difference to someone today? If not, how can you?

I first saw Dan Pink at TED, when he spoke about motivation. He found an interesting study that, surprisingly,  suggested money is not the best motivator…

The TED video can be found here http://bit.ly/geRowE

I recently came across an RSA talk by Dan on the same theme, which I like better as it is a great visual representation of the same talk:

Enjoy!

PS And by the way, Dan also produced a pretty cool career guidance book . It has been written in Japanese Manga style i.e. a cartoon character, giving the basics of career guidance in a new and interesting way.
